My political responsibility for God
With the national election of 2012 only a few days away. What is it we should do for God? We have always heard and been told to keep politics and religion separated. So if that is the case then we can just ignore the election, right? No, It's not right, What we should be doing is making sure our vote counts for God's standards to uphold his commands and our beliefs.
I don't like Politics
The truth is, I really dislike politics. Any kind of politics whether it is playing politics in the workplace or actual politicians in the local, state or national government. Even so, I have a responsibility and have always voted in major elections. We don't always get to choose what we want to do but learn to do those things we have a responsibility for.
A representative of God
As Christians we should be seen as representatives of God and do what we believe God leads us to do. We can't just ignore what is happening around us, not even politics. We know by power of God that events in the world will fall into place as he has planned it. However, ignoring our responsibility and just assuming God will work it out is not what he called us to do.
2 Corinthians 8:23 "as for our brothers, they are representatives of the churches and an honor to Christ."
Everything falls into place According to Gods Plan
Can we expect everything to happen exactly as God planned it, without our help? I don't think so. God calls us to serve him. As we serve him his plan if fulfilled in our lives and in our country. We don't always know what Gods plan is beyond what he reveals to us for our own lives. At a higher level only God can see all the pieces of the puzzle being put together by each of us who serve him.
John 13:7 Jesus replied, “You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand.”
If we do for God each day what God desires He will bless us and support us individually and as a whole. In the end I do believe that God will insure events happen just as they have been written in his word. However the means by which we arrive in those final days may vary for us depending on how faithful we are as a country to him.
If we look at the examples in the bible, over and over again God empowered those who were willing to do his will. He blessed those who acknowledged him as God and brought down those who did not.
Wouldn't that still be true today? If we as a Nation acknowledge God by putting people in office who are true to his values we will continue to be blessed. If we allow our nation to be deceived and turn further and further away from God no longer being a Christian nation we will be brought down.
Luke 12:8 “I tell you, whoever publicly acknowledges me before others, the Son of Man will also acknowledge before the angels of God.
Our responsibility is to hold our leaders accountable
Here in America we're able to make a difference. We have the choice to vote for those who run our government and make the laws we live by. In an election year we are bombarded by ads and claims of what each of the candidates will do once in office, but more often than not these campaigns are not run with integrity. Unfortunately we can't believe what we are told so it is hard to know how we can uphold the principles we believe in.
This is where even when we don't like it we have to work to learn the truth. As a Christian if we want to have a country blessed by God who will make life for everyone better than it would be without his blessings we must find the truth and vote for those who will represent America as a Christian Nation with Christian values.
I have never been more concerned about America than I am right now. We have fallen from what was once viewed as a great Christian Nation to just another country. Our Christian values have been compromised because we have allowed too much sin to be tolerated without enough of us standing up for our beliefs. We have stood by and let all mention of God be taken out of our schools. We have allowed the outside influences of other religions and cultures to sabotage our country in the name of political correctness. Even our pledge of allegiance is forgotten. How many children today can recite it correctly?
Romans 1:20 "For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse."
We have removed God from our nations future. How can we expect to continue to receive blessing from one we have abandoned. All we have to do is look to history to see what happens when a country no longer follows the leadership of God.
What can I do for God Today?
You and I have the opportunity to play a part in the big picture no matter how small our task seems to be. Casting a vote doesn't seem like much but it can turn the results of an election. To make sure it is turned in the right direction we each need to do our part to learn what we are voting for or against. So ask yourself what would God want me to vote for? Who will lead with integrity and hold us up as a Christian nation? All you need to do is look at the actions taken by the person for whom you cast a ballet. Does their actions reflect Christian values? Will those we are voting for do what is good in the sight of the lord or will they compromise the integrity of the country with acts of secrecy and deceit supporting those things that are against the teaching of God's word?
God wants to use you to guide a nation in the right direction. Your vote is important, like it or not. Not voting is a decision not to participate in Gods plan.
