Disappointed Today but God Holds Tomorrow
Did you do what God asked you to do yesterday? If so that is what counts. The outcome is not always what we expect it to be but God will be faithful to us and he holds the world in his hands. As we do what God asks us to do today he is faithful and just tomorrow.
When you are disappointed
There is nothing more disappointing in life than seeing things go in a direction you didn't expect. We often work hard to get what we have, put our mind, our back and heart in what we are trying to accomplish. Usually, if we work hard enough we are rewarded for what we have done. But sometimes no matter what you do or how hard you try the result just doesn't materialize. Our hopes are dashed and dreams for what might have been, completely turn into nothing.
Luke 24:21 but we had hoped that he was the one who was going to redeem Israel. And what is more, it is the third day since all this took place.
This is when it appears there is no one to turn to and all is lost. Have our efforts been for nothing? Often, for many this is the only time people will look to God for the answers. But for those who know, those who understand that God is always walking beside us we can turn to Him and say lord, I tried my best, I did all I could do, now, the rest is up to you.
We know God understands how we feel, how heartbroken and afraid we are. There is no hiding the disappointment. God doesn't want us to try and hide anything from him. He is here for us to lean on. He is here to lift us up when we are down. He cares about each and every hurt we have and knows exactly what we need.
God cares about us as individuals
It is amazing to me to think that a God like ours, so unimaginably vast in his power and understanding could care about me. In our thinking he is just to big and too important to consider my tiny failures. But God is so big and so unimaginable that he does care about us and what we have worked for.
He cares about the things we wanted to do but didn't, because we put other things first and never got around to it. He knows what it is like to be human, to be forgetful or tired. He knows it is hard for us not to put our thoughts ahead of his and do what we think is best without asking him for help.
Psalms 139 "O Lord, You have looked through me and have known me. 2 You know when I sit down and when I get up. You understand my thoughts from far away…"
God was human in Jesus. He remembers what it is like for us. He knows how easily we can fail and be disappointed.
That is why God cares about each and every one of us so much. He wants us all to succeed in what we do. He wants us to be happy and to share our joy with others.
God is here to help us
As we go about each day we need to keep in mind that God is here to help us. He has our back and we can be sure that the things he asks us to do will make a difference.
God knows the future because he has been there and he came back to this time right now for you. Since He holds time in his hand he can be anywhere at any time. He is omnipresent. That's how he can spend as much time with you as you need.
He can go to anyone, any where, and spend an hour, a day or a week holding your hand to walk you along and never loose a second.
It is hard for us to comprehend since we are bound by time but God has eternity and knows every second of it. He knows when you need him the most so he is waiting by your side when that time comes.
What can I Do for God today?
Give God the credit He deserves and thank him today, for knowing your future. Lift up your chin and do what God asked you to do even when it appears the result may be futile. Have faith that God holds your future in his hands and what you are doing for him today will someday be rewarded if not right away. Remember, he stands beside you always to lift you up when you need it most. Encourage your friend who is down today.
